My KitchenAid is a slut

In Love + Sex with Robots: The Evolution of Human-Robot Relationships, artificial intelligence expert David Levy predicts that by 2050, men and women will be enjoying physical and emotional bonds with lifelike suave robots. The Globe and Mail prints an interview of the author that actually pinpoints the problem of marketing such a product. Lifelike sex dolls are already available on the market but they tackle a small group of customers. Bringing a sex robot to mainstream consumerism would require to provide a better-than-real addictive experience with a sensible price tag. But what’s the point in investing the price of a motorcycle to get perfectly crafted orgasms ? Theorizing the ability of an industry to produce such a toy doesn’t show the proof of a market, even if publicized in fashion and lifestyle magazines (hey, Mr Levy, any magazines left in 40 years ?). Back in 1985, french cartoonist extraordinaire EDIKA had published a 8-page story of a sex robot repairman that turns berserk because a customer has provided a blowjob to her Atari bot. This whole idea of sex bots seems to come from a gang of avid beta testers. who have not found yet the low value of faked orgasm.
