As many government fight to implement anti « happy slapping » policies to restrict the online video promotion of social violence, the South Wales authorities threatened to introduce tough new measures where car hoons’ vehicles will be wrecked in crash test experiments then posted on the internet as a warning to other drivers. The article states that almost 290 cars have already been confiscated this year which means a lot of « experiments » can be performed. Some may argue that the public authority has more to do than organizing demolition derbys and YouTube trends. I strongly believe that this operation, if completed, will be a total failure because if will push car thieft and disposable cars behaviours, possibly even elevating the count of deaths and severe injuries. Promoting such a vision of using web visibility is also very dangerous because there has always been a strong audience for public « experiments ».
