Introducing the Gallup World Poll, a worldwide effort to let the US « feel » what the rest of the world is all about. As this article by Frank Greve for McClatchy Newspapers sets it, the « well being » investigated here for the « 100 years to come » got its start after 9-11 with a reporter’s question to then-Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld. asking if the Muslims supported the attacks. The « answer », according to Jim Clifton, the chairman and chief executive officer of The Gallup Organization is eight percent while thirty-five percent love the US. But, as 35 + 8 is 43, the worldwide poll actually fails to determine a position for 57% of our surveyed muslim brothers, roughly a mere billion people according to these figures.
